Robinson quitte la maison familiale pour découvrir le monde par lui-même. Lors de son premier voyage, il échappe aux pirates aux côtés d’un jeune esclave — qu’il vend peu après, avant de devenir propriétaire d’une plantation. Cherchant à acquérir de nouveaux esclaves, son navire est emporté par une tempête et fait naufrage. Robinson se retrouve seul, échoué sur une île déserte.
C’est au cœur de la faim, de la solitude et du remords qu’une transformation intérieure s’amorce : un cacatoès devient alors son unique compagnon. Plus tard, il sauve un jeune garçon — Vendredi — des cannibales et le considère comme son ami. Mais ce n’est que lorsque Robinson accepte de véritables liens d’égal à égal qu’une libération mutuelle devient possible : Vendredi se défait de ses chaînes extérieures, tandis que Robinson se libère de ses entraves intérieures. À l’approche d’un navire, une nouvelle interrogation surgit : le monde est-il prêt à accueillir une amitié capable de dépasser les visions du monde alors jugées modernes et incontestables ?
Robinson leaves his parental home to see the world with his own eyes. On his first voyage, he flees from pirates together with an enslaved boy – but sells him shortly afterwards and becomes a plantation owner himself. When he tries to procure new slaves, his ship is caught in a storm and sinks. Robinson is stranded alone on an island. There, an inner transformation begins: between hunger, loneliness and feelings of guilt, a cockatoo becomes his faithful companion. He later rescues a boy – Friday – from cannibals and calls him his friend. But it is only when Robinson learns to allow real closeness that they both begin to free each other – Friday from his outer shackles and Robinson from his inner attitudes. As a ship approaches, a new question arises: is the world ready for a friendship beyond the worldview that was perceived as entirely modern and definitive at the time?
